Letter from our IDF soldier: Anna Karol (Summer 2020)
Posted on March 20, 2021
Dear Friends at Zionist House & RJCF,
Hello,
How are you? I hope that you and your family are fine, and that you are managing to go through this hard time.
My family and I are feeling good these days. When we were celebrating "Passover" the Virus did not make it easy. The situation is difficult and unclear, but we must keep our strength in the best way possible.
Lately, I haven't done any army reserve duty (which is usually during September-October) because I got an exemption from it.
Instead, I'm volunteering to do it through "Magen David Adom" – the Israeli first aid organization. I volunteer once a month and drive with the ambulance while providing first aid to anyone who needs it.
School is going well, even better than I thought. I improved my grades (since last year) and I'm really glad about it. We were supposed to start our clinical experiences as nurses in the hospital after Passover, but it was canceled for now due to the Corona virus. I hope that we'll go back to our routine as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we are studying through the "Zoom" application, which is much harder than learning in a normal class. Our teachers also record the classes and upload them, so we can go and listen again if we want to.
Things are going well with the girl I'm mentoring through the "Perach" organization ( that I'm also volunteering in it). Usually we meet twice a week, and chat a little bit or do some homework together or just play. Nowadays we can't meet because of the quarantine, so we do video chats or just talk on the phone. This is not easy because sometimes she loses her patience, which is very understandable, she is only 10 and it is not easy to have long conversations on the phone.
I want again to thank you for the opportunity to get this scholarship, it helps me a lot, personally and financially. Everything would have been impossible without your help.
I wish for better days and a lot of good health to you and your surroundings.
Best wishes,
Anna Karol
