Andover Outing – Fun events online and live
Posted on September 13, 2020
How can one create a Russian-Jewish community in one small American town, where the percentage of Russian-speaking immigrants is not that high when compared to other communities? How does one unite people with common interests, outlooks on life, and with common roots? How does one give them the opportunity to communicate and celebrate their holidays? How does one enable children from such families to spend time together for the benefit of themselves and society? ...

This year ANDOVER OUTING 2020 despite Covid-19 as always keeps our connections and continues to fill our mission to help the kids of the Ariel Youth Video/Theater Studio in Israel, especially at the times of Corona!
This year we obviously can't do the live event at Camp RSM, however we are preparing a list of online and offline events to be together and to keep the morale. See below!

... You need a common cause and you need a place where you can meet and exchange experiences, where you can devote a few days only to this goal.
The founders of the Russian School of Mathematics Inna and Viktor Rifkin, long known for their charity in the Russian-Jewish community, have found a wonderful solution. They provide small Russian-Jewish communities in Massachusetts with their summer camp for their retreats, and the money raised for the camp goes to charity.
In particular, the Andover community has been sending the funds raised to Ariel for eight years, thereby supporting Ariel's Youth Theater and Cinema Studio in Israel.
Every year in September, for 8 years, 26 families, about 80 people, adults, children and adolescents, have gathered at Sunapee camp.
The camp always opens with the raising of the American and Israeli flags, as well as the performance of the national anthems of both countries. The weekend is filled with workshops, hikes, different sports, dances and songs.
All instructors - members of our community - share knowledge and talents with friends. Artists Maria Nemchuk and Youlia Shuel, dance teachers “ Dance Fever” - Rut and Emil, chef Misha Rackhunov, hiking professionals Gennady and Natalia Maiko, health food specialist Sofia Briskin, meat and baking specialist Alex Katsev, creative workshops providers: Luba Margolin , Aksana Sorokina, Natalia Tsidolkovsky, sport and games instructors Stanislav Margolin and Max Briskin, singer Zhanna Chatsman.
Also longtime donors and members of Andover Outing: Yulia and Alex Sheier, Boris and Alla farison, Olga and Alik Likhsinder, Emil Cebotary, Yulia and Evgeny Zhorov, Margaret and Andrew Sukennik, Greg Paley, Elena and Leonid Godes, Irina Adler, Nora and David Hunt bring their own enthusiasm and creativity to the camping
Sometimes the dates of the camp fall on Rosh Hashana - and then we celebrate the Jewish New Year together - the whole community! What could be more beautiful than this!
But the Andover Russian-speaking community goes beyond family camping!
The Andover Outing Comedy Theater has been operating for 5 years now, putting on funny plays in the local theater - Acting Out - and is now online with eighteen actors.
During this time, plays by Neil Simon, Mikhail Kheifets and
Elena Ulanovskaya (group leader) in collaboration with American playwrights Judy Mullins and Lily Farizon. In most cases, the theater will stage plays in English, thus maintaining a relationship with the local American community and involving our own youth in our lives - lead their native language - English!
Those same active members of Andover Outing are also terrific amateur actors who have long since become professional and our theater has been featured on TV and in newspapers. Most of them are very known supporters of RJCF for many years: Elena Ulanovsky, Olga and Vitaly Revsin, Svetlana Ravina, Michael Gomer, Alina Tverskaya, Boris Acodes, Eugenia and Len Gillan, Katia Badgi, Evgeniya Turikova, Dilia Kogan-Saraceno, Steven Saraceno, Talila and Barry Millman, Zhanna Chatsman, Basia Tevelev, Ilia Yaroslavsky,
And, of course, we can’t forget two of the co-founders of Andover Outing, Alexander and Luba Katsev! Luba is also the founder of her own Luba Social Events women club.
Luba Social Event club gathers the women of the Russian-speaking community of Andover, North Andover and other surrounding cities and offers a whole range of diverse and inspiring creative and educational classes! Common interests and common creativity bring us closer and keep us together!
