Dear Mr. Gay,
A few days ago, I learnt that CJP and JF&CS of Boston agreed to accept a grant from Hougton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) publishing house. The funds will be used to provide care to the Holocaust Survivors through The Holocaust Survivor Program, which is no doubt has a very good purpose – helping survivors receive much needed services. (link: US publisher to donate Mein Kampf revenues to holocaust survivors)
When I started researching this matter I came across your article in Boston Globe "Boston publisher grapples with Mein Kampf profits" and decided to write to you directly.
Their decision truly upset and outraged me. I contacted Rimma Zelfand, CEO of JF&CS, David Schechter, President of JF&CS and Barry Shrage, President of CJP urging them to revert their decision and refuse from receiving the HMH grant. HMH is Boston based publishing house that prints Mein Kampf since 1933 (no more comments on this are needed, right?!).
In addition, I contacted Dr. Charles Jacobs (Americans for Peace and Tolerance) and RJCF (Russian Jewish Community Foundation), FOX25 asking for their public support in hopes that CJP and JF&CS will refuse from the grant (as Boston Children’s Museum have refused)
My home care company, Ezra Home Care, has been providing home care services to one of the Holocaust survivors and paid through JF&CS’ Holocaust Survivor Program. I had a staff meeting and my staff and I, unanimously agreed to refuse from being paid by JF&CS if their funds would come from the HMH grant and would provide care to this client for free, for as long as JF&CS wants us. I have notified JF&CS of our decision yesterday.
If you’d be interested in learning more about this, please do not hesitate to contact me directly and I will share more information.
My goal is to attract people’s attention in hopes that CJP and JF&CS of Boston would repeal their decision to accept this blood money.
Sincerely,
Alexander Schechter
