IDF Soldiers: Thank You!
Posted on January 15, 2016
Dear Russian-Jewish friends of Boston — Shalom!
My name is Gabriel Samberg; I am 21 years old, from Jerusalem, and an officer of an intelligence combat unit in Israel’s Defense Forces. The soldiers under my command have recently become beneficiaries of your generous gift, which allowed us to procure essential outdoor gear.
Before anything else, I must admit: I simply don’t know how to express my respect and tremendous gratitude for your help and extraordinary support. In my eyes, and in the eyes of my soldiers, your willingness to help is something out of the ordinary, and we value it tremendously.
We are presently beginning a period of special round-the-clock combat activities. A great deal of perseverance and moral strength will be required from the soldiers, who will be involved in difficult outdoor operations. Thanks to you, we are now better equipped to deal with daily hardships of our missions. In addition, nothing enhances soldiers’ morale like the knowledge that somewhere in Israel and abroad there are fellow-Jews who care about them. Your gift conveys the message precisely. It is also an important reminder to my soldiers as to why they are out there at the front-lines, doing exhausting and dangerous work: they are defending the Jewish home for all Jews, those in Israel and elsewhere.
From our hearts—thank you!
With appreciation and great respect,
Fighters of the Samberg Team
